TOPIC: THE SWORD AS AUTHORITY
Text: Matthew 7:29 “For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes”
Memory verse: Esther 9:29 “Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of purim.”
FOCUS
This morning, we are going to be looking at our sword. We must learn to use our sword as authority and how do we exercise our place of authority? The authority must be exercised in the place of prayer, in the place of request, in the place of relationship and when you are dealing with things that have to do with destiny.
There is a difference between when you are in charge of your life and when someone else is in charge. A lot of people do not exercise authority when it is required. Why? Because there is a negotiation between them and the devil. But God has given us authority over every unclean spirit, he has given us authority over powers, over principalities. So any time we are dealing with the devil, we should deal with the devil as one with authority.
Authority has been given to you so exercising authority means you are ready to take charge of your life and the devil is never in charge. If you do not take charge of your life and destiny, someone else will do. So take charge as one that God has given the audacity and the control over powers and principalities. God does not want you to be intimidated in your domain. Be conscious that God has given you authority so you need to exercise this authority lawfully at all times.
LESSON
We are looking at the sword as authority just like the way the Bible says that “where the word of a king is, there is power” and where there is power, there is authority. The Bible says in Luke 9:1 “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” So you see, power is not only to be used against demons, we must exercise power over sicknesses and diseases. The Bible said “Our body is the temple of the almighty God” so anything that wants to defile our body, we must allow God to destroy it. How? By simply exercising authority over unpleasant situations.
We must make sure we exercise authority because it has been given to us over 2,000 years ago and if we do not exercise authority, then we are to be blamed. The Bible says that “authority has been given to us in heaven and on earth, over devils, over demons, over principalities, and over powers” so we must be conscious that we are people of authority. We are born of God and because we are born of God, we have no limitations and all we have to do is to make sure we exercise authority legally. It does not matter what the devil is doing around you, go ahead and exercise authority. The sure way to get authority is to give your life to Jesus Christ. A life without Christ is full of crisis. God bless you.
