TOPIC: THE SWORD AS STRENGTH
TEXT: Genesis 49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Memory Verse: Psalms 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
FOCUS:
This morning we’re going to look at our sword as strength.
Strength is for sword, you cannot use the sword if you’re not strong. You cannot be a weakling and want to exercise authority. No. It said you must get to a point whereby you know that this sword in my hands is for destruction, execution of justice.
That is why you need the strength of God to exercise it lawfully, to carry it out in a just manner. You cannot be outside God and exercise a legal authority; no, you can’t.
Many a times as children of God, we want to use our strength but for a wrong reason or in a wrong direction but when you see someone who has strength and the person understand the place of God and divine strength, the person is able to use it lawfully. The person is able to use it in a dimension that will bring glory to God.
I want to beseech us this morning to please note that God is interested in how we use our strength. God is the God of the universe but He wants to execute justice only on the wicked. So, you don’t carry a power that you will use wrongly or for the destruction of another person. You must use it lawfully. In another version it says “but his bow abounds in strength” if you read the Amplified version it says “but his bow remain strong and steady”. Strength makes you to be steady in life. Strength makes you not to fall for just anything. Strength makes you to exercise your godly authority. God bless you!
LESSON:
1Chronicles.16.27 “Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.”
We are talking about the sword as strength today and we are looking at it from the angle of stability. Like I said that strength makes you to be stable, strength makes you to be consistent. If you work with men who are on foot and you are weary how much more when you begin to run with men on horses. If little things get you offline and make you loose your direction and focus, how about when you begin to face big battles? Do not forget in one of my teachings I said every royal destiny have it’s Royal battles. That means there are things that will confront you that you will need your inner strength to withstand and that is why we are looking at 1st Chronicles 16:27.
So anytime you are fainting, please go to God. Go and tell God, “I need strength, please renew my strength”. If you don’t constantly ask for renewal of strength, you will discover that you are fainting; you will faint.
The Bible says his bow remained strong, his arms were strengthened by the mighty one of Jacob. So God is the actual person who strengthens people in the face of adversity.
No matter how royal or how fierce your battle is, if you don’t have inner strength which you have contacted; that is why you must make sure that you contact inner strength from His presence so that the battles of life does not get you wearied. So that the battles of life does not knock you out. So many things will be happening at the same time but what you need is inner strength, to be strong from with and you can only get it in the presence of God. No wonder, David understood this secret and he said ‘i will rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than for me to be where there is wine and lilies and there is no strength’. That is because you need physical strength, you need spiritual strength.
If you don’t have strength that will take you to fight the adversity, the adversity will knock you out and I pray this morning that we will not be defeated in the battles of life.
Every royal destiny will have a royal battle to fight and it takes strategic warfare to defeat the enemy. Stay strong. Stay blessed. Use your sword as you are strengthened by the Lord. God bless you. Amen!
