TOPIC: The Sanctifying Grace

[4]That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
Sanctification is the process by which believers are set apart from sin and become more like Jesus Christ.
While sanctifying Grace helps believers to remain steadfast and holy in their Christian walk to Christ, Grace is the nature of God that imposes obedience or enables a believer to become better or become like Christ in all ways.
The Bible encourages us that everyone should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour because, in a great house, there are so many vessels, some to honour and some to dishonor and the distinguishing factor here is Grace and nothing more.
A believer who understands Grace and receives it by faith will be a vessel of honor while the one who neglects Grace becomes the vessel of dishonor.
Grace sanctifies once it is received by faith.
LESSON: 1 Peter 1:2
[2]Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Grace uses the following medium to sanctify a believer:
- Empowers obedience (Titus 2:11-14)
- Transforms the heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27)
- Provides strength for growth (Philippians 4:13)
- Fosters humility (1 Cor 3:5:6)
- Promotes perseverance (Rom 8:28-30)
In summary, grace is essential for sanctification, it empowers, transforms and encourages believers to pursue a life of holiness.
