TOPIC: Limited thinking is an enemy of Fruitfulness.
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 23:7
[7]For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
FOCUS: Philippians 4:8
[8]Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Limited thinking refers to a mindset that does not support fruitfulness.
A man’s thought must be productive before it can bear fruits because as a man thinks in his mind so he is.
A Limited mind is known for its narrow perspective and it is also not open to new ideas, it has restricted ideas that are biased and it assumes a lot of things. A wise man said assumption is the lowest level of knowledge.
If we must be fruitful, then we must embrace creativity and be courageous enough to accept change and make necessary adjustments where it’s necessary.
There are a lot of limited mindsets, some of them are:
- Fixed mindset
- Binary thinking
- Confirmation bias
- Assumptive thinking
- All-or-nothing thinking
- Self-limiting beliefs
- Negative thinking.
All these are enemies of fruitfulness and they can be major hindrances in productivity.
LESSON: Jeremiah 1:12
[12]Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
As long as a man is limited in thinking, the person will miss opportunities, have reduced creativity and make poor decisions, and because of the effects of this limited thinking there is a need to overcome them with the following;
- Challenge assumptions
- Seek diverse perspectives
- Practice mindfulness
- Embrace ambiguity
- Develop a growth mindset
- Engage in lifelong learning
- Surround yourself with positive influences
- Be open to innovation.
Biblically, narrow-mindedness is a major barrier in the school of faith because it affects areas of your life, but with the following tips, we can overcome it.
- Practice Meditation
- Engage in deep breathing
- Journalising
- Visualisation
- Practice gratitude
With this narrow-mindedness can be overcome.
It’s time for fruitfulness.
