TOPIC: Curses as an enemy of Fruitfulness.
MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 5:29
[29]And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
FOCUS: Deuteronomy 28:18
[18]Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
A curse is a supernatural or spiritual affliction believed to bring harm, misfortune or adversity to an individual, family or community.
These are different types of curses and they include:
- Generational curses
- Self-imposed curses
- External curses(witchcraft, hexes)
- Territory curses
- Curse of the law.
All these curses will always affect fruitfulness directly or indirectly.
LESSON:2 Samuel 1:21
[21]Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there, the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.
Curses are so effective that they have the power to affect even the unborn generations.
These are some of the effects of curses on fruitfulness.
- Hinders spiritual growth and maturity
- It blocks prayer and devotion to God
- Curses impose hardship on people and sponsors calamity
- Curses cause barrenness
- Curses place a limit on destinies and make it stagnant.
Curses can be broken by doing the following; - Repentance and forgiveness
- Prayer and intercession
- Faith and trust in God
- Spiritual warfare and deliverance
- Sacrificial giving
With these, curses will be broken and fruitfulness will become a natural phenomenon in our lives.
PERSONAL CONFESSION: I am redeemed in Christ.
PERSONAL PRAYER: Father, I obtain my redemption from curses through your blood, therefore, I am free in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.
NOTE: A curse is like a boomerang; it always comes back to the one who throws it.
