MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2024.
TOPIC: The Stony Heart.
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 13:6
[6]And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
FOCUS: Mark 4:5
[5]And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.
The stony heart is a spirit that is rebellious and disobedient.
At new birth, God takes away the old spirit (the old man) and gives us a new spirit (the new man) that is obedient and responsive to Him, a stony heart is usually stubborn and unrepentant.
God told Ezekiel to speak to the people about changing their ways, about examining their attitudes and priorities.
We are all humans and the truth is that we all have filthy junk in our hearts, if we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that we currently have some sin and wickedness in our hearts.
The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked above all things but the good news is that this condition of heart can be changed from unfruitfulness to fruitfulness.
LESSON: Ezekiel 11:19
[19]And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you, and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh.
The answer to change is simple and it lies in how sincere we are in changing this condition of heart.
We can’t do this unless we are willing and sincere.
The following will surely help us to transform our hearts from being stony to a heart of flesh.
- Admit that you have a stony heart that is stubborn and rebellious.
- Confess your sins and repent.
- Engage constantly in spiritual warfare.
- Use the weapon of the blood to cleanse your heart from the impurities of the flesh.
- Mind your association.
- Go for counseling if you are battling with lust, addictions etc
- Don’t over personalise your failures and success
- Decide to trust God, people and yourself.
- Fight Isolation
- Claim God’s promises and activate them.
Work out your tenderness of heart by faith, believe God for a heart of flesh and seek understanding than judgments.
