In this series, I will be writing about the types of soil that represent the human heart and how each soil helps in fruitfulness. No matter the quality of the seed received, the type of soil also matters in nurturing the seeds to maturity.
TOPIC: The wayside soil.
MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 55:10
[10]For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
FOCUS: Matthew 13:19
[19]When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.
God wants you to experience fruitfulness in every area of your life – spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially and in your relationships.
To receive fruitfulness you need to treat your soil because no matter how good a seed is, the ground is as important as the seed.
Barrenness means being unfruitful, unproductive, empty, close up, shut up, lifeless, hopeless and helpless. It is the opposite or absence of fruitfulness.
God is the only one who can turn barrenness to fruitfulness and he does that by changing the person’s state of heart to a good one. Many people receive God’s word without cross-checking the state of their heart which is as important as the seed.
Understanding is the key word in transforming the word into flesh which is the fruits.
Many people are wondering why Gods word doesn’t work as it is intended to and it’s because there is no understanding.
God’s word is a seed and the ground must be fertile for the seed to work. If only we can cross-check our understanding then we will turn our wayside ground into a fruitful land.
LESSON: Matthew 13:15
[15]For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
God’s word has some specific promises when it comes to the area of barrenness that is tied to wayside sowing.
- God’s word must be applied to the area of ignorance that is fighting the fruitfulness.
- We must end our schemes.
- We must cease from strife and manipulation.
- We must wait patiently for the seed to grow
- We must maintain faith and patience
- We must be grateful at the pace of our growth.
- We must engage in the weapon of prayers consistently.
- We must constantly declare God’s word on our heart which is the soil.
- We must constantly use the weapon of the blood of Jesus Christ on our hearts
- We must seek understanding from spiritual books, the bible and spiritual people.
If we apply all these then a wayside ground will be converted to a fertile ground ready for all round fruitfulness.
PERSONAL CONFESSION: I am a fruitful bearing fruits.
PERSONAL PRAYER: Father, deliver me from shallow grounds in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: A life of consistency will bring fruits in its season.
NOTE: Judge a tree from its fruit not from its leaves.
