TOPIC: SARAH (FAITH)

TEXT: Genesis 18:14 “Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

Memory Verse: Genesis 18:11 “Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

FOCUS:
This morning, we are focusing on a character in the Bible who lived a life of signs and wonders – Sarah.
Sarah was the one who spoke expressly and made us understand that there is nothing impossible for God to do. She said Is there anything hard for God to do? And the answer is No. This is because at a very old age, she gave birth by faith.

The Bible made us to understand that Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age that means they were not just old, they were well stricken in age. And he ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. So when the angels encountered Sarah and told her she was going to have a son, of course, laughter was expected because she knew the implication medically and she wasn’t trying to flatter God or anyone; she knew her medical condition and that is why she made the statement: ‘Is anything too hard for God to do?’ God was glorified and the devil put to shame.

When God wants to do a work in someone’s life, God can bypass all protocols to make possible and impossible case. How do you explain a 90year old woman giving birth through normal delivery? No complications or surgery. That is why when Isaac came, Isaac means laughter; we knew that indeed there is nothing impossible for God to do. The life of Sarah proved to us that there is nothing God cannot do. What did God do for her? He broke protocols. Faith at work; evidence was real. Isaac became a living proof in her hands. She was holding Isaac and is telling us today that God can break protocols for us. Don’t Forget, until your faith is at work you cannot command signs and wonders.

LESSON:
Genesis 21:1 “And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.”

We are still talking about mother Sarah who became a sign and wonder in the area of fruitfulness. She was married to her husband and was barren without a cause, and she had to live so for a long time. Suddenly, she introduced an alternative to her husband. This is not the problem but God saw her and found her in her low estates. She had an encounter with an angel who told her that God will be visiting her soon and that made her faith to work.

Sometimes, to become a sign and a wonder you need an encounter. She was promised by God that He was going to give her a son and this son is going to be the heir in her house and the Bible told us that God visited Sarah as He had said and as He has spoken. I have a phrase I love so much, ‘God cannot lie’. God is not a man that He should lie, neither is he the son of man that He will withdraw Himself; whatever He said He will do, He will do it.

God in His infinite mercy remembered His promise concerning mother Sarah and gave her a son at the appointed time. I don’t know what you have been waiting for and I don’t know what you want God to do but I want to let you know that there is an appointed time God has ordained for you. It is God that has the timing of the appointed time in His hands but one thing I want to establish this morning is that inasmuch as your faith is active, your encounter will produce evidences.

There are many people who have encountered God but do not take it seriously because they do not have faith in what God has said and that is why this morning, I am glad to tell you that God does not have the capacity to lie. He is God by Himself. He works and sir up on the cherubim of heaven and He doeth Whatsoever He pleases to do. He can make a barren woman to give birth to seven at once all by His power.
