TOPIC: DANIEL
TEXT: DANIEL 6:10 “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”
MEMORY VERSE: DANIEL 6:5 “Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”
FOCUS
This morning, we are looking at another character in the Bible who experienced signs and wonders and this person is Daniel. He did not just experience signs and wonders once or twice but several times. But there was something he did, he said “I Daniel understood by books”. He made us know that by studying, reading and meditation, he stumbled into knowledge that made him command signs and wonders.
So today, we are going to be looking at the place of knowledge in commanding signs and wonders. In the first series we talked about who will ascend to the hill of the Lord but did you know that everything listed in Psalm 24 is powered by knowledge? So you can not achieve things in the kingdom without having deep knowledge about how they work. For example, there are many people who desire to live holy but keep falling back into sin because they do not have the right knowledge that powers righteousness for them to stand firm in the kingdom. Knowledge is power they said, so what you do not know, you do not know.
Daniel understood by books. The first miracle he experienced was when the King asked him not to pray to God but he went back to his house, opened the windows, not in disobedience but with reference to the God of Israel and he began to pray. The accuser of Daniel knew that the only way they can catch him is through the law of his God but the Bible says that “Those that know their God, they shall be strong and they shall do exploits.
Do you want to do exploits? Then you need to know God, you need to have basic knowledge of who God is, and there must be intimacy between you and God. You do not relate with God because you want to just relate but you relate with God based on knowledge from what you have heard about him, what you have learnt about him and what you have seen him doing and you will see God repeating these things. God wants us to relate to him based on knowledge and the more we do this, the more we command signs and wonders.
LESSON
DANIEL 6:16 “Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.”
We are discussing Daniel as a man who commanded signs and wonders and as a man who experienced it. There are so many people that can command it but they do not experience it personally. But in the case of Daniel, he did not just command signs and wonders, he also became a sign and a wonder.
Do you recall when he was caught praying to his God and he was taken to the King’s palace and he was thrown into the den of lions. Ordinary, the sight of Lion is dreadful for anyone to survive but something happened to Daniel. Daniel never forsook God and the Bible recorded that while Daniel was there with the lions, God shut their mouths. The lions became a pet to Daniel and he came out of the den alive.
Daniel walked with God from the realm of knowledge and God was glorified in the life of Daniel. Knowledge is one way to command signs and wonders so without knowledge, you can not command signs and wonders. God bless you.
