TOPIC: SHARPEN YOUR SWORD THROUGH GODLINESS

TEXT: 1Timothy 3:6 _”Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.”

Memory Verse: 1Timothy 6:11 “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

FOCUS:
This morning we are going to be looking at another method we can sharpen our sword and we ate going to be looking at sharpening your sword through godliness.

The Bible says ‘And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.’ Great is the mystery. So godliness is a mystery! Why is it a mystery? Because it is encoded; it has the power to save, it has the power to set free; it has the power to make a slave a king; it has the power to turn captivity around.

When you give your life to Christ and you come into the kingdom of God and God begins to work on you and begin to reveal to you the mystery of godliness you have just signed in for greatness. No matter the cheque that you are given in the flesh, until it is signed, you cannot cash the money and that is how godliness is. Until you are signed into the school of righteousness and become a godly fellow, Christianity cannot profit you. There are things you must eschew, there are things you must say no to; there are things you must say ‘No, I don’t want this thing again’ and your ability to say NO to sin is what makes you a godly person.

Inasmuch as you still condole ungodliness, you still abhor it, then definitely you are not set to sharpen your sword. Your sword is not only things that are happening around you but even your thoughts. Your thought is so powerful that it can either contaminate you or make you a godly person. Just like the Bible said that a godly man out of his godly treasure brings forth a godly fruit so also God was revealed in godliness, taken to heaven in godliness. The Bible says that he came to the world of sin yet he never partook of sin. He never partook of the nature of sin that is why he was conceived by mother Mary a Virgin so that he won’t be contaminated. His journey on Earth was severely dedicated unto godliness.

You want to be relevant in this kingdom, practice godliness. God bless you. Amen.

LESSON:
2Peter1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

This morning we are looking at our lesson from the scripture of 2Peter. We want to look at the mystery of godliness and how it affects us and that is why 2Peter1:3 said “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

So, when you are called, you are actually called into glory and virtue. You are not called into shame; you are not called into sin; you are not called into reproach; but you are called to live a life worthy of emulation; you are called to live a godly life. God has not called us and given us to the enemy so that our lives can become a life without a testimony. He has called us, so we are called out of darkness into His marvelous lights; we are called into greatness; we are called into virtue; we are called into honour. These are the things, the fruit of righteousness. God who have seen us in our low estates, who came through the virgin Mary, born into the family of God, He brought us out and called us so we are actually called. If anybody said you’re not called, you are called.

No wonder the Bible said God has redeemed us as kings and priests. The least in this Kingdom is a king. We have the priest because we are called into the marvelous light but what powers our new life is godliness; the life dedicated unto God and to His kingdom. Outside this, there is no other law. There is nothing that can walk against a child of God who is walking in godliness but if you see someone who does not comply with the life of God, then the person begin to live in shame.

It is my prayer this morning that we sharpen our sword through godliness. God bless us. Happy Sunday. Amen..
