TOPIC: SWORD OF THE SPIRIT AGAINST EVIL DAYS
TEXT : Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
FOCUS
Today we are looking at the sword of the spirit against the evil days. Evil days are inevitable, one of the reasons we need to sharpen our sword is against the evil days. We are already in the evil days according to the book of Timothy, we are living in days where people call evil good and see nothing wrong with it. Many peoples mind have been hypotinized with evil, there’s moral decadence, no uprightness, no honesty, people betray their loved ones, living according to the dictation of their flesh, that is why you need the sword of the spirit so that you will be able to stand the evil days.
There’s something I usually say that, in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, I don’t know their atrocities but I believe the atrocities in nations now not just in Nigeria is far higher because we are living it times where there’s somuch evil to combat with even among the so called christians. Take a sword of the spirit that you will be to counter every attempt of the wicked. The wickedness in our days can make someone renounce his faith, it’s so obvious that we are living in evil days. The only solution is the sword of the spirit, the flesh has limitations and cannot scale through it. But the spirit subdue the flesh, it lowers the operations of the flesh and prevail over it and this is the only way we can scale through the evil days.
LESSON
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
What is actually the sword of the spirit, what does it consist of? Don’t forget that evil proceeds from thought, that is why the Bible says, a fountain cannot bring evil and sweet. So, the word of God which is the sword of the spirit is designed by God to penetrate deep inside your heart and expose whatever is there, so it can be dealt with, with the word of God.
It is even possible someone is thinking evil and doesn’t know. Somebody might even be engaged in a particular work and not know it’s a dangerous work. But when the word of God is at work in your life, it’s sharper than a physical sword and that is why we call it the sword of the spirit. It will be able to penetrate to the point you are able to obtain your liberation in God.
God is not a man, God is is God. The only language God understands is the language of His word, that when you speak the word, He honours it because it came from Him and you take the word back to Him. And that is the only thing, Satan respects. Satan may not respect your status, age, qualifications when it comes to battles of life but he understands the word of God. If Christ could conquer Satan with, it is written. That is the sword of the spirit; tell the devil today it is written and you are rightly using your sword. Stay blessed!
