TOPIC: RIGHTEOUSNESS
TEXT : James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
FOCUS
Today, we are looking at another thing that grants us access to faith and it is righteousness. Someone defined righteousness as standing right with God, where you stand and have no condemnation, no guilt, nothing hidden, you are transparent before God.
The force of righteousness boost faith. Righteousness is a must if your faith must work. When you meet someone and there’s nothing skeletal in your relationship with that person, you are free you relate not hiding anything. No wonder the Bible says, let us come boldly to the throne of grace. You can’t access God if you are not righteous. The friendship between Abraham and God was that Abraham was always accessing God. You know how friends relate, always chatting, always having something to talk about.
Abraham believed God, it was counted for him for righteousness. The Bible gave us a clear account, when he wanted to drive Haggai and her son away, he asked God; is it this that will be my heir ? There was a level of transparency.
It takes right standing with someone, to communicate heart to heart. When you see relationship where people are not free, then you know that the force of righteousness is low. It is my prayer that God gives Us grace to stand right before Him so that as we begin to seek His face in fasting, in prayer, in worship, there won’t be anything hidden that will contaminate our relationship.
LESSON
Hebrews 1:8 _But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Righteousness must be followed deliberately, you must consciously tell yourself that you will be righteous. You can never attain righteousness, when it is not diligently followed. There are many things that wants to take you off and knock you out of your christian journey, that is why it must be followed and believed, you must consciously ask yourself, am I righteousness?
Righteousness is right standing with God, you are not having any condemnation. Don’t you see how Abraham and God were dialoguing, nothing to hide. Abraham told God, don’t you see am going childless and God said to him, I will give you a child. That is relationship !
One of the things that enhances relationship is righteousness. Have you seen a man that is righteous before, He speaks boldly. When you are righteous, it gives you a level of confidence that the devil cannot understand. Be righteous, it will boost your faith.
PERSONAL CONFESSION
I receive divine help to stay righteous and live in righteousness.
PRAYER FOCUS
Father deliver me from every trace of unrighteousness in the Name of Jesus Christ.
