TOPIC: GRATITUDE ESTABLISHES GOD’S WILL ON EARTH
TEXT: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
FOCUS
Today we are looking at another thing thanksgiving does. Thanksgiving establishes the will of God on the earth. The more you thank God, the more His will is revealed. The reason people don’t obtain or get into the will of God is because thanksgiving is not enough. The Bible is perfect, it contains the heart beats of God and there’s no lie there, it’s not a gimmicks, not a man made thoughts put together but something that God originated.
Our opening scripture says; in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God concerning you. Not when things are good, not when you feel like or when you don’t feel like. The more you you give thanks, the more the will of God is revealed to you. What is the essence of a life that is not in accordance to the will of God? What is the essence of a destiny without the direction of what the will of God is.
The will of God is the heartbeat of God for His children. God wants us to live His will out on earth. That was why God told Jeremiah, before I formed thee, I knew thee. He is telling us that while we are on earth, He only wants us to do two things for Him; give Him pleasure that is, thank Him, celebrate Him, compound and saturate Him with your thanksgiving, let Him not lack praises from your lips and secondly, live out His will. So, the more you live out the will of God, the more you thank God and the more you thank God, the more you live out the will of God.
Have you discovered that when you are praising God genuinely, God begins to speak to you concerning His intent, His heartbeats towards you and concerning a particular issue. Sometimes, when you are confused, it will be difficult but try and thank and you will see that the will of God will be communicated at that point.
LESSON
Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Thanksgiving is a will of God that must be carried out on the earth. Anytime you lift up your voice and you are thanking God, what you are doing is that, you are carrying out the will of God on the earth.
The will of God is not something that is far, it is something that is in your mouth. When you do the will of God then His will is revealed back to you so you will be able to go from glory to glory. But when the will of God is not done, something will go wrong because the whole essence of man is to do His will.
We know by the scripture that thanksgiving establishes the will of God and no wonder when Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, He said to them; when you pray ask for my will to be established on earth as it in heaven. And even when Christ was face to face with a case that was hopeless, He gave thanks. At the tomb of Lazarus, He lifted up His voice and gave thanks because He has to fulfill the scriptures that says “in everything give thanks”
What kind of situation are you in, the year is running to an end, if we are not going to thank God, then we are not ready for the will of God. At the center of it all, let it be that God is all that you see. Don’t see your situation as permanent, every problem has an expiry date but when you thank God genuinely from your heart, you begin to see the manifestation of the will of God. Don’t forget, until you thank Him you are not doing His will and when you do His will, His purpose is established.
PERSONAL CONFESSION: I receive grace to always be grateful both for the visible and the invisible blessings.
PRAYER FOCUS: Father deliver me from selfishness that will not allow me to thank you.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God’s will is established in Thanksgiving.
The will of God is the supreme reason why you are here on earth
