TOPIC: PRAY WITH THANKSGIVING

TEXT : Psalms 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

FOCUS
We are still on our take heed series. We have discussed so far that we should take heed to ours prayer life and we have been able to look at some ingredients that makes prayer effective. Prayer is not just praying, uttering words to God, prayer is taking God by His word and having faith in Him. That is why we said you must pray with expectation, with love and with the word of God.

This morning we shall be rounding up the series on prayer and we are saying, you must pray with thanksgiving. A prayer void of Thanksgiving is a prayer that is likely not to attract heaven’s attention. God wants us to pray but prayer has procedures and one protocols of prayer is that, prayer must be saturated with enough thanksgiving for it to attract divine attention. It is very easy most times to complain and complain but a wise warrior will rather thank God and present His request intelligently than to endlessly bombard the gate of heaven with request.

The Bible says we should enter his gates with Thanksgiving and into his court with praise. It means that, as you are bringing your prayer request, your expectation list, start dancing, start celebrating, start rejoicing, don’t let anger blind you, don’t tell yourself I don’t know what to do. You must be overwhelmed with His thanksgiving for your prayer to receive answers. God is mindful of us, He wants us to thank Him for what He has done and then He will do more. Thanksgiving is prayer on its own. When you thank Him enough then you can ask Him for anything.

LESSON
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Be careful for nothing, in everything by prayer and supplication. As you are praying, you are thanking Him, as you are thanking Him, you are blessing Him, you are presenting your request with multitude of thanksgiving, you are appreciating Him for what He did yesterday, so that He can do more today.

Do you want to be a royal vessel; then you must learn how to appreciate God, how to celebrate Him, how to be grateful. When you think of what God has done, you will discover that God wants us to praise Him. Only fools that doesn’t thank God. Because they feel God has not done then well but those who are wise will always praise God, will always be grateful, will always celebrate God.

God is mindful of us but He wants us to celebrate and appreciate Him. Don’t forget that thanksgiving is a prayer in its own. Everyone that wants to be a royal vessel, must learn how to present themselves back to God for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving purifies, it modifies, reshapens you to fit into the master’s desire. If you are not a thanksgiver, they will be alot of filthiness, complaining in your life that will dirty your vessel.

But when you are a grateful person then you will know that God is good. The more you thank Him, the more He shows up and make you a vessel of honour. When you are a vessel of honour, your Thanksgiving will increase.

PERSONAL CONFESSION
Father I receive grace to continually thank you and acknowledge your good will towards me.

PRAYER FOCUS
Father deliver me from worries and anxiety that will hinder my Thanksgiving.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Thanksgiving grants you divine access to God
