TOPIC: Spiritual Prosperity.
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 6:20-21 [20]But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21]For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
FOCUS: Genesis 39:3 [3]And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
The first and greatest asset is our spiritual portfolio which starts with salvation and is followed up by the fruits of the spirit. In the same way that our physical life enables us to enjoy physical prosperity, so also our spiritual life enables us to enjoy remarkable spiritual growth.
Spiritual prosperity can be enjoyed now and in the life to come. Physical prosperity is wiped out for us when our body dies that is why we must constantly examine our hearts because where your treasure is that is where your heart will go after.
We were encouraged not to lay up for ourselves here physical possession not because they are not needed but because they shouldn’t be the focus of our life and they are useless after this life. When you are rich spiritually, there is no way you will not be prosperous physically. The bridge is the heart. Where is your heart? In as much as one servant cannot serve two masters so also we cannot serve God and mammon.
Money or physical prosperity is not a sin because that way you can be a blessing even in the church of God. Those who treat prosperity carnally are always ensnared by it because they will never be satisfied. God wants his children to grow up first spiritually so that their hearts will not shift from him, prosperity without God is sorrow without end, that is why Apostle Paul recommends that in having food and raiment, let us be contended.
More than 80% of the atrocities today are because someone somewhere is desperately in need of physical prosperity. It makes people go to any extent just to have it but after getting it, it pierces their souls with many sorrows. Spiritual prosperity is when your soul is knitted with God and it is saturated with God’s word according to 3 John 3:2, I wish above all things……that your soul prospers, this is what spiritual prosperity is all about.
In our world today, many people worship money, have an ownership mentality and want to secure every bag except their soul. It is time to make a U-turn by seeking spiritual things. When you have a prosperous soul, people around you will know just like our scripture for today – a spiritual man is a prosperous man.
LESSON: Ecclesiastes 10:15 [15]The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.
Some things indicate that a man is spiritual and since every other prosperity is tied to spirituality, our soul needs to prosper so that our other prosperity will glorify God. These are the indicators that a man’s soul is prosperous.
Strong faith
Inner peace
Connection with a higher power
Spiritual growth
Humility
Transparency
Wisdom to manage resources.
Accountability All of these are what is required to sustain physical prosperity that must be sustained spiritually.
PERSONAL CONFESSION: My soul is prosperous.
PERSONAL PRAYER: Father, help me to accept personal responsibility that promotes spiritual prosperity in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Prosperity is only an instrument to be used, not a deity to be worshipped.
NOTE: There is nothing more spiritual than prosperity because prosperity is the touching, feeling, and tasting of alignment.
