TOPIC: Kingdom Followership

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 11:1
[1]Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

FOCUS: 2 Kings 2:5
[5]And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

It is paramount to say that there is only one leader who does not follow and that is God. Christians are called followers of Jesus Christ before anything else.

Great people have to follow great leaders well before they can lead well, it is inevitable and necessary that we understand followership or this enterprise of life in our culture and our church is going to fall apart.
We talk a lot about leadership from the time of elementary school and everybody wants to be the “line leaders”. We are thrilled with the idea of being leaders and not followers, but, until you are a good follower you can never be a good leader.

Most people in our culture don’t take pride in being a follower, we associate it with weakness. Followership requires grace and meekness and I can boldly say that it takes more to follow than to lead.

Commanding the supernatural is not left out in this, Jesus showed us by example, how he could not do anything without the Father but today many people want to command the supernatural without the Master and I think this is one of the major challenges in the body of Christ.

Jesus Christ came not by the will of man but by the will of God and no wonder God was with him, that is why he commanded the supernatural daily.
It’s time to follow biblical principles and not manmade doctrines if we truly want to live in the supernatural world.

LESSON: 1 Corinthians 4:15
[15]For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

In God’s church design, leaders are Christ’s followers exemplifying Christ.
There are some requirements for good followership and they include;

  1. Humility
  2. Obedience
  3. Faithfulness
  4. Time
  5. Teachable

Followers must follow the mission of their Master.
We are stewards of divine mystery and that is why we must strive to follow instructions and not be led by men’s doctrines but by the set rules made by God as the master who wants us to walk in the supernatural and nothing more.

PERSONAL CONFESSION: I am a kingdom addict and I will never forsake the assembly of the brethren.

PERSONAL PRAYER: I receive Grace to fellowship with God and the brethren as required by me from the Lord in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Our love for God is measured by our everyday fellowship with others and the love it displays.

NOTE: We need worship for our spirit, fellowship for our soul and committed subservience for our body.
