TOPIC: SHARPEN YOUR SWORD THROUGH UNDERSTANDING
TEXT : Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears
Memory Verse: Psalms 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
FOCUS
This morning we are looking at, how do I sharpen my sword? You sharpen your sword through understanding. Understanding is a spirit and we have quick understanding. In the physical this is how it applies. Have you ever engaged in a dialogue with someone and after talking the person said “I see” that word means it’s now I understand. You can engage someone for hours and the person may not see what you are saying. Until you begin to see whatever you are been told in pictures form, you have not yet understand.
Understanding is so awesome that personally, there are times people will be talking to me that I will have to come to the level of “I see” meaning it is now I understand you. You can be in a place and not understand. You remember the Ethiopia Eunch, he was asked a question if he understands what he is reading. Adm he said how can I. That means you can be reading without understanding.
Its good to talk about knowledge, wisdom but do you really understand? No wonder David said, give me understanding and I shall live. Understanding makes people to live, makes people excel, to triumph over challenges of life. Many prayer nights are not necessary if only we understand. Don’t forget understanding is a spirit and it is something you need to ask God for. What you understand is what you practice and not what you were told. Understanding sharpens your sword.
LESSON
1 Chronicles 22:12 Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Understanding is received in the place of prayer, it doesn’t come from any other place but only from God. In knowledge, there are sources, you can listen to people, get it by impartation but when it comes to understanding, you have to go back to the father of all understanding that understands all mysteries, all language and say; Lord give me understanding.
Understanding makes you to be outstanding in life, makes you live, excel, triumph where others fail, understanding is not something you keep searching for, you have to go to God and say Lord I need understanding. David understood this secret and said, give me understanding and I will live. Understanding makes people live.
Outside understanding, there’s nothing to go about with. It is my prayer this morning that the Almighty God, the God of heaven and earth will grant unto us good understanding. Without understanding, you can’t be outstanding. God expects us to understand; understand yourself, your situation, the enemy and everything you need to understand for you to live a good life.

I receive the spirit of understanding in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Father deliver me from the spirit of ignorance and misunderstanding in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
