FOCUS
Today, we are looking at another character of the Bible who had a vision and she scaled through her vision through patriotism. What is patriotism? Patriotism is been loyal to your country, seeking the good of your country. Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, a judge, she had all these characteristics and yet she never allowed it disrupt her patriotism to her nation. She was so committed that she became a heroine.
The vision was not directly given to her. She met a problem on ground and decided to solve it through patriotism. Until she got up and said no, I can’t be here and this is happening, I can’t be a native of this country and yet these things are happening to my people; I have to arise. So, when it comes to nation building, it is not gender based.
It is time to arise like Deborah and build our country. Do you have a vision for this country, do you really love this country? That country people are running to, a set of people built it. We can make this country habitable. I believe somuch in this country. Men were begging Deborah they knew the potentials in her, they knew she is brave, they knew if only she will follow them, they will win the battle. Are you brave ? You can’t be patriotic without been brave. When it comes to national issues, you have to be brave, serious. Nation issues does not need timid people but brave people. May the Lord raise for us brave people that are not gender based in Nigeria.
LESSON
Judges 5:7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.
We are going to learn from the life of Deborah, a woman. Like I said, vision is not gender based, God won’t say because this person is a man I will give him a bigger vision, because this person is a woman, I will give a lesser vision. God does not discriminate, when He sees a brave and patriotic heart, God can give the person an idea or vision to build a nation.
We are not looking at Deborah as a wife today, as a judge, as a mother in Israel, but we are looking at her from the angle of national building strategist. She was a strategist, look at her experience, her connection to God gave her an edge to do the impossible. You can’t be a national person and not carry God.
We can see the trend that God equipped Deborah to arise like a giant because she was brave, she was patriotic. The village life ceased and what is village life? For example in the village when you see a goat going, you don’t steal it because you know it belongs to someone, there was security. In village, when you pick something from somebody’s farm, that is love but when village life ceased, all these things that were given to us for mutual interaction and understanding, ceased. And that is the nation we are today and God is asking, can I get more Deborahs, are you willing to be a Deborah, will you arise for our nation Nigeria? Until we do this, we might not be able to enjoy a better nation. Let’s not just be saying the problem, let’s begin to provide solutions to the problem.
