TOPIC: Christian Service Requires Hospitality

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 4:9
[9]Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

FOCUS: Acts 16:14
[14]And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

Showing hospitality in one of our core services in God’s kingdom, Jesus Christ demonstrated it while he was here on earth, he was doing good everywhere he went.
Showing hospitality involves creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for others making them feel valued, respected and cared for like Lydia the seller of purple.

The gospel of Jesus Christ can’t do without hospitality and generosity. This woman wasn’t an evangelist or a Pastor as many people crave today but she understood that hospitality is a Christian service with reward and she gave herself to it.
Every hospitality starts from the heart and ends with the act.

Practical ways to show Hospitality include:

1. Welcome others into your home
2. Offer refreshments
3. Listen actively
4. Show interest in other’s
5. Be inclusive: Make an effort to include others in conversation, activities and social events.

Every act of hospitality carries a tangible blessing and today I will enumerate some of them.
Benefits of showing hospitality:

1. Builds relationships
2. Shows love and care
3. Creates a sense of belonging
4. Fosters gratitude
5. Reflers God’s character
   Tips for showing hospitality:
6. Be intentional
7. Be genuine
8. Be flexible
9. Let your motive be correct
10. Do not show off or oppress.
    This is the only way we can truly express that we are truly hospitable.
