In this last series, we shall look at Bible characters who lived fruitful lives. They were fruitful despite the challenges they faced and so can we.

TOPIC: Joseph
MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 49:22
[22]Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
FOCUS: Isaiah 17:6
[6]Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
Joseph’s life exemplifies the power of resilience and fruitfulness in the face of adversity.
Joseph fruitfulness wasn’t a gift but personal attributes led to his fruitfulness and I want to highlight some of them so that we can emulate and put them into action.
These were some of the characteristics that Joseph possessed:
- Faithfulness and obedience (Genesis 37:13 to 14)
- Humility and forgiveness (Genesis 45:4 to 15)
- Wisdom and Discernment (Genesis 41:15 to 32)
- Hard work and diligence (Genesis 39:11 to 12)
- Trust in God’s sovereignty (Genesis 45:5 to 8).
Even though Joseph faced adversity and persecution from his family and outsiders, yet, he never gave up on his dreams, he held on to them even while in prison and amid his rejections.
He was a man who valued his family and that is why he was able to reconcile with them and still offer help when they needed it.
Despite all the adversities that he faced, God’s plan still prevailed in his life.
LESSON: Zechariah 10:6
[6]And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them.
If Joseph’s fruitfulness is our desire then we must deliberately live a praiseful life.
Prayer and worship bring strength into a deadly situation and infuse strength and direction into us (Genesis 49:18).
Joseph was a man who understood God’s direction and preservation for his life that’s why he was never disappointed or gave up on God despite his challenges in life even as a teenager.
Joseph trusted that the God of Israel was faithful, no wonder he paid the price and became a living testimony of God’s faithfulness even in a strange land despite the adversities.
Joseph exercised the power of forgiveness and mercy, he practised gratitude and his faithfulness and obedience led to his fruitfulness. Trusting God’s sovereignty brought peace and fulfillment to his dreams.
Until you dream it, you can’t fulfill it. Be a dreamer like Joseph.
PERSONAL CONFESSION: I am a fruitful vine.
PERSONAL PRAYER: Father, I receive Grace to be fruitful like Joseph in every area of my life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Like Joseph, be a fruitful bough, spreading blessings and prosperity wherever you go.
NOTE: Your life is a tree, planted by the rivers of God’s Grace bearing fruits that glorify God.
