Memory Verse: Psalms 34:18 “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

FOCUS:
We are still on our series, who is going to ascend to the hill of signs and wonders? And we are looking at the person who has a contrite spirit; a pure heart. We are taking our text from Psalms 51:17. The only type of heart God does not say no to is of those who have a contrite heart; those who have a broken spirit.

Now, what does it mean to have a broken spirit? The broken spirit means the spirit that trembles at the word of God. While a contrite heart is the heart that you can rebuke and it will not feel offended. Sometimes you know, offenses will actually test your humility. Those who have a broken heart and contrite spirit are ready and willing to do everything that God asked them to do without resistance or resentment. They cease to do things their own way; they learn to do them God’s way instead. In such a condition of submissiveness, the atonement that can make effect and true repentance can occur. When God asks you to do something, you are humbled, you are trembling, you choose God about other, you are telling God ‘I will live for you and not another person.’

Lord give me a broken spirit. Lord give me a contrite spirit. The bible said the sacrifices of the Lord. God has respect for those who have a contrite heart and a broken spirit. God doesn’t send them away. Contrite means: penitent; humbled; they are trembling; they are sober; they maintain a lowly Spirit even when they are wrong. God bless you. Amen.

LESSON:
Isaiah 66:2 “For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”

We are looking at who will ascend to the hill of the Lord? And we are looking at he that has a pure heart and a contrite spirit. Our lesson is Isaiah 66:2. The only person I (God) am going to have respect for is that person who trembles at my word. Each time I speak, this one goes and plead.

Sometimes people want to show God the reason why they did so many things and why many things were not properly done and then there is this audacity from them. But, God doesn’t have a problem with them because he already has a system that fights those kind of attitude. But when God sees that He has someone somewhere who trembles so much at his feet and fear him, God respect that person. God doesn’t joke with people who trembles at His word.

Are you among them? Until you are among them, you are not ready for signs and wonders. God is tired of raising proud people; He wants to raise people who have broken spirit and a contrite heart. Until this is in place, you can never command signs and wonders. God bless you! Happy new week!

PERSONAL CONFESSION: I receive new heart and a new spirit from the Lord.

PRAYER FOCUS: Father deliver me arrogance and pride that hinders signs and wonders in life and ministry in the mighty name of Jesus christ.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: God’s blessings is upon those that trembles before him. Do you reference God genuinely?

Until you have a contrite spirit and a pure heart, wonders are impossible.
