TOPIC: SHARPEN YOUR SWORD WITH MEEKNESS
TEXT: Psalms 25:9 “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”
Memory Verse: James 3:13 “
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.”
FOCUS:
This morning we are going to be looking at the last key in this series on how to sharpen our sword and we are looking at the key of meekness. We are taking our text from Psalms 25:9; God was speaking and he said “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.” Now there are two questions we are going to be attempting to answer in this series.
What does it mean to be meek? To be meek simply means you have received a heart to be humble, submissive; ability to take idea, instruction from another person. It is an act of submission; you are not proud at all. A lot of people don’t take instructions from people, they know it all; they don’t believe that God can use another person for them.
How can you carry a sword that can destroy and you are not submissive? You are going to destroy yourself and destroy the people around you. How do you adjust your mindset if you don’t listen to anybody; if you don’t have someone watching over you? Just like the way someone said that a leader that is not under a leader is not worthy to be followed. Absolutely correct!
The sword is too dangerous for you to carry it without anyone that you are submitting to or guiding you . Don’t forget that we are talking about the sword of the spirit, we are not talking about a physical sword here. The sword of the spirit that you will be able to do exploits for God and that is why you need someone to put you through especially when you know that this person knows more than you do in a particular area.
Don’t let the devil deceive you. Meekness is not just a fruit of the spirit. Meekness is something you have to work ON or develop consciously. It is a mindset that will make your sword to remain relevant forever. Amen.
LESSON:
2 Timothy 2:25 “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;”
We will be looking at the scripture in 2 Timothy 2:25. “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;…” In meekness, instructing; in submission. …”if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;…” and this is the reason you must not be harsh with your sword.
He said, and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil who have taken captive by him and his will. So for this singular reason, you must not be harsh with your sword; you must make sure you submit to God and submit to people who are better than you in any area that you desire to know more.
If you don’t do this, you will abuse the privilege that God has given you to own a sword.
Your sword is for destruction; it’s for vengeance; but you must carefully administer it. It is not something you just use. It says peradventure God will give them a heart to repent. Now when it comes to repentance, it is God that determines when and how. That is why you must be liberal; you must be humble. Like we said yesterday that without understanding you can’t love and without love you can’t understand. So you see they are interwoven! All the virtues we have listed on how to sharpen our sword, if you look at it they are interwoven. For example now, the reason you submit to people is because you love them, and you are loving them because you understand them. So you see, they are all interwoven. None can operate on its own in isolation.
We are going to the month of June and God has spoken concerning this month that it is going to be our month of signs and wonders and one of the things that will require as a disciple or as a follower of God is that we must know that until meekness is in place, signs and wonders can never be in place.
Don’t let the devil rob you of your glorious future by planting in you the seed of pride. Always remember that Satan lost his only chance to pride .
Happy new month in advance! May this month of June be our month of celebration. It is a month of signs and wonders that every mountain that has resisted your celebration will be moved from you. Welcome to your month of signs and wonders! Amen.
