Prioritizing the relationship with your partner over other personal relationships is Love addiction.
Love is sweet but it must be controlled.
Another way to know if you’re a love addict is when you feel obsessed or depressed when your romantic actions are not reciprocated even when the person involved is not good for you.
Your decision power and will is affected when you become a love addict.
When you feel impotent whenever you’re not in a romantic relationship or you find it difficult to leave a toxic relationship rather you give reasons for the unhealthy actions from your partner this is because you’re making poor decisions just because of the love relationship.
How do you Identify you are a Love Addict?
You constantly think about your love life and partner so much that it affects your life.
Love addiction doesn’t only affect your mental health, You need to go to a diagnostic centre because it affects every area of our lives.
CAUSES OF LOVE ADDICTION
- Feel of abandonment
- Low Self-esteem
- When people have gone through traumatic relationship, they get addicted to loved when they finally get someone who loves them sincerely.
Love language is categorized into five. Love Languages included:
- Word of affirmation
- Gift.
- Acts of Service
- Quality Time
- Physical Touch.
How Does Word of Affirmation Affect Addiction?
Word of Affirmation means, you like people to appreciate little things done for them. It is appreciation. Others tend to use this against a person who is addicted to word of affirmation by the use of words because they are already aware that your Love language is word of affirmation and all they need is to say soothing words.
How does Gifts affect addiction?
The Bible says he that love gifts will not prosper. Gifts blinds ones eyes and is used as a bait to addiction
How does Acts of Service affect addiction?
When one gets addicted to services, it becomes bad. You find yourself not being able to perform properly without your partner by your side or someone doing it for you. It is advisable you do things all by yourself even as you’re being assisted by others.
How does Quality Time affect Addiction?
One addicted to quality time, can be easily used against the person. Your partner will use this to get on you quickly.
How does Physical Touch affect Addiction?
Until we understand the power of love languages, we may not be able to take right decisions. Ones you’re addicted to physical touch, it can be easily used against you as your partner already know that’s your weak point. They know all they need to do is to “touch” you.
Allow your partner to discover your love language.
Do not be hasty to tell them your love language so they don’t use it against you.
There are two powerful forces. They are God and Love.
