TOPIC: RELIGION WITH CAUTION

TEXT : James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Memory Verse : James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

FOCUS
This morning we are looking at another thing we need to take heed unto. Take heed unto your Religion. I titled it religion with caution. Caution here means take heed, be careful. Receiving Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour does not give you the guarantee to pull down people with your tongue. Grace is not a license to take religious leaders and shatter them with your tongue.

God is the one that orchestrated the church infact God is the owner of the church. But there’s something about the church, the church is a place where revival and replenishment should take place but in the past year, the devil has taken advantage of believers tongue to pull down the same church. Sometimes, people don’t say it to the face of the set man or woman but there are a lot of murmuring and grumbling behind.

How will I know the level of my Christianity? How I use my tongue, the way I construct my statement. No wonder, our tongues must be seasoned with salt, our words seasoned with grace. We must allow the Holy Spirit to allow us align our tongue with the will of God. You want to see how Christianed a Christian is, check how he talks. A careless talker no matter what he tells you, don’t take him serious.

If you are a careless talker, your religion is in vain. You can’t say you are a child of God and yet you pull others down especially the set men, the religious leaders. It is only in church you keep hearing people talking about their pastor. I have never heard the other religion where they bring out their religious leaders and pieces them. It is only in the church you hear people talking about their pastors, their Bishops, their Apostles some even keep malice with them but in the other religion, they don’t do it. Be careful how you use your tongue.

LESSON
Psalms 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

You must come to the understanding that speaking guile is not of God. God does not want you to speak carelessly. You must understand that God wants you to be a soldier. Have you ever seen a soldier before, they are disciplined people. Discipline your tongue, mind what you say about your leaders. If any man does not bridle his tongue, that man’s religion is useless. Why will you want to destroy your religion because of carelessness of your tongue.

Keep your tongue, you have the responsibility to keep it. Tell yourself, I refuse to speak what is not true about my religious leader, I will not use my tongue as an instrument of destruction in my fellowship, in my church. The amazing thing is that, in the other religion, I have never heard where they bring out their leader and begin to tell us what their leader have said to them. But in the christiandom, we are the ones who kills our generals, when we know their wounds we bring it out to the open and begin to show the world how badly it is and this is really bad.

God is calling us to sanctify our tongue, to clean up, to mind what we say, to stop our lips from speaking guile, stop speaking peversely and as you do that, the Lord bless you. If any man does not bridle his tongue, he can’t be a royal vessel. We are royal vessels because we are people who bridle our tongue not only in church but even outside the church, not only with our friends but in the bedroom. May the Lord bless you in Jesus Name. Amen
