TOPIC: TO BLESS THE POOR
TEXT : Deuteronomy 15:11
For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
Memory Verse: Proverbs 19:16
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. 19:17 _He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
FOCUS
Today we are looking at another reason we should prosper. We need to prosper because of the poor so that we can extend a hand of goodness and kindness to them. If you don’t have, how will you open your hand to the poor? It is not an admonition that the poor should be taken care of; the Bible says the poor will never cease in the land. And sometimes, you see them everywhere. They are in your offices, school, community, town, city, nation. So, it is a wrong prayer to be praying that Lord eradicate poverty because there are people that have already made a choice to remain poor even though there’s prosperity in that same land. But we are not to judge or condemn rather we are to help them, open a hand of generosity and be a blessing to them.
God does not want you to insult them or look down on them. Rather, He wants us to be a blessing to them and not despise them. Job went all the way to take care of the poor, He was the wealthiest man in the East. God wants us to open our hands to the poor, to reach out to the needy because they will not cease in the land. There’s no need praying that let the poor cease, but rather you will pray Lord give me the money the resources to be a blessing to the poor and needy. This is the right prayer and I see God answering that prayer this morning.
LESSON
Romans 15:26
For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
God has prepared somuch prosperity for us but we must have a particular attitude. Paul was saying that he traveled to Jerusalem to see the poor saint. These ones are christians but they are poor. Prosperity is not a function of religion, anybody can prosper but I want you to know that from the local church, the needy, less priviledged should be looked after. Stop ignoring the needs of people.
The Bible says; He that giveth to the poor, lendeth to the Lord. So, when you minister to them you are actually lending to God and you can imagine the interest that will come in hundred folds. It is time for us to look after the poor and needy not only in the church but also in our environment. Let’s make sure we have people that we personally look after, be a blessing to somebody and as you do that, God bless you Amen.

I receive grace to give to the poor and help the helpless.

Father deliver me from selfishness that will not allow me to help the Poor.
