TOPIC: MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS
TEXT: Luke 1:46 – 55
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
FOCUS
We are looking at Mary the mother of Jesus as another person that gave thanks in the Bible. After Mary had encountered the angel to bring forth the promise that will be called Emmanuel, whose purpose is to save the world.
Our opening scripture is the testimony of Mary, she appreciated God in a higher dimension. She was supposed to go into complaining because her plans and desire were altered. Don’t forget, she was preparing for her wedding but divine plan altered her intentions for marriage. But she took it in good faith that God has blessed her and remembered her in her low estate.
Has your plan been altered this year, maybe there are things you want to do and God intercepted it. Did you see it as God’s intervention or as a distraction? Mary never saw the pregnancy as a distraction but that God has favoured her and considered her. For every of your plans that has been altered this year, I want you to give thanks.
LESSON
Psalms 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
For what God has done for you in 2022, what will you do ? Praise Him with a song of thanksgiving, lift Him up by singing a new song to Him. Don’t let the devil rob you of the end of the year blessings by giving you end of the year worries. End of the year blessing is better than end of the year worries; the more you worry, the more you loose.
Mary was a young girl, who already had her plans, she already knew what she wanted to do with her life but divine plan came and altered it, she took it with faith. No wonder the Bible says, count it with all joy when you enter into diverse temptation. I know this year you have fallen into temptations that are not palatable; just go ahead and thank God, celebrate and give Him glory. Let God know that you are grateful, even for the ones that didn’t work out. The Bible says, He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Mar had other children. God never deprive anyone of their plan. Sometimes, it’s difficult to understand His plan but he won’t deprive us. Am sure when Mary began to have other children, she forgot the shame and she still got married to Joseph. They became celebrities. The plans of God may look stupid but if you take in good faith, it will bring forth your desires. As we prepare for the new year, make sure you have nothing against God.
PERSONAL CONFESSION
I magnify the Most High today and always.
PRAYER FOCUS
Father, I bless you for all the favour that I have enjoyed in this year 2022.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Until you magnify God, He can not manifest Himself in your life and destiny.
