TOPIC: DAVID
TEXT :2 Samuel 22:1 – 4
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Memory Verse : Psalms 73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
FOCUS
Today, we are looking at another person that praised God and his name is David. Thanksgiving can be futuristic, you can thank God in advance. David was thanking God for what God has done for him, saving him from Saul and all his enemies. He was also specifically thanking God in advance that God will deliver him from his enemies.
When last did you thank God in advance, in anticipation of what you are expecting. It is very natural for people to feel that God has done little but we can actually thank God in advance for what He is yet to do. We have just few dates left in the year, so we can thank God in advance for the new year, we can give him glory for bringing us into the new year, we can behave like David and say; Lord you have done me well, you are my fortress, my deliverer, my Abba, my glory and the lifter of my head; thank you for bringing me into 2023.
This is more advanced than any thanksgiving we have considered because this one, you are thanking Him not just for what He has done but also in advance for what you are believing Him to do. David said ; I know you will save me from my enemies. It is futuristic, God has not even done it and He is already thanking Him. What a wonderful God we serve, lift up your voice and appreciate Him for the new year.
LESSON
2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
David was a man who gave thanks to God for what God has done and for what God will still do for Him. Initially, he started thanking God for delivering him from his enemies, he escaped the juvenile many times. Just like many of us have escaped the juvenile of the enemy this year, many traps were set and we escaped,there were things we didn’t even know the enemy put in place and we escaped.
Our victory is in Christ, He never left us without a witness, everywhere we were going, He was there for us, He was our Alpha and Omega, He was there in the morning, in the afternoon, He didn’t abandon us. Everywhere we have gone, Christ has been our fortress, our refuge, a very present help in times of need, while we were calling, He answered us.
God has been good to us in every area, He has made us the sheep of His pasture, He has carried us on His head, He was there for us like a mighty warrior, He never let us down one minute. May His Name be praised in Jesus Name (Amen)

I thank God for helping me against all my enemies known and unknown in 2022.

Father, I thank you because you are my battle fighter.
