TOPIC: HANNAH
TEXT : 1 Samuel 2:1 – 10
And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

FOCUS
This morning we are looking at another person who gave thanks and her name is Hannah. She was the wife of Elkanah, she was barren, she has been going to Shiloh but nothing to show. Until, one day she got so tired and frustrated that she went to meet her husband and say, give me a child or I die. Elkanah answered her ” am I not worth more than ten sons?” I don’t know if there are still men who can assure their wives that they are more than ten sons.
What a wonderful man he was but Hannah was not satisfied, she knew that life can be better and God cannot lie to her. So, she got up and went to Shiloh; while she was in Shiloh, she prayed and after the long story, Hannah conceived and her gratitude began.
Thanksgiving is a prayer. Hannah began to appreciate God, recited poem for God because God answered her. Did God answer your prayer this year? Today is the 27th day of the last month of the year, just go ahead and give Him thanks. You want to go higher next year then give Him high praises this year.
LESSON
Deuteronomy 4:3
Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
God wants us to be grateful. We are going to see the battle plan and how it can be overcome. You have seen things this year that was meant to destroy you but you escaped them, you have seen that same road you passed, how people were wasted yet you escaped. You have seen this year, how you were meant to suffer a particular thing but the mercy of God bailed you out. So, this morning we are thanking God for the things we have seen and escaped.
I don’t want you to believe it is all by your calculations. Sometimes, people say oh I just passed that road five minutes ago and accident happened. I want you to see from the angle of, the hand of the Lord went forth to save you.
Lord we say thank you, you have done us well, there’s nothing to complain about, you have made us to be happy, we can smile all by your kindness. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. Thank you Father, you are so good, you are so kind.
What have you seen? You have seen your wife going into the delivery room and came out alive, you have seen the Lord provided for you in mysterious ways, you have enjoyed favour, you have seen all manner of things. May His Name be praised in Jesus Name (Amen)
