TOPIC: GRATITUDE BRINGS PEACE
TEXT : Luke 2: 13 – 14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Memory Verse : 2 Thessalonians 1:2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
FOCUS
Today, we are looking at another thing thanksgiving do. Thanksgiving establishes peace, it brings peace to you. Peace is a fruit of the spirit but can also be gotten from Thanksgiving. A life that is free of worries and anxiety definitely give thanks but a life that is filled with worries, fears, anxiety will never have time to thank God. Don’t forget that, same heart that bring forth good fruit cannot bring cannot bring forth bad fruit. If your heart is filled with worries, concern, anxiety, so many questions, you are not likely to be a grateful person because the devil will show you one million and one thing that God has not done forgetting what He has done.
From our opening scripture there was an host of angels, they were not murmuring or complaining. Stop pitying yourself, you have an enviable tomorrow. Any where you see gratitude, you see peace and anywhere you see complaining, you see anxiety, murmuring, sickness, death. I want you to consciously ask yourself this morning; am I worried?
The more you are worried, the less you give thanks. Those who are prone to worry are less thanksgivers. Many atimes, they really don’t have anything to thank God for because the devil has shown them one million things that are not working. But when you are a thanksgiver, you see reasons why God has been faithful, you stop looking at what is not working and start seeing what is working that you didn’t even pray for. When you are a thanksgiver you automatically enjoy peace.
LESSON
Daniel 6:25-28 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
The testimonies you have this year is enough to make you give glory to God. Daniel was giving an account of the Testimony of how God helped him, delivered him from the mouth of the lion. What have you been delivered from this year? Accident, sicknesses and more.
God has been so mindful of us but many times we are not conscious of what God did for us that we didn’t even pray for. There are things you never asked for, you didn’t even remember in your prayers and God still did it. For me, I see thanksgiving as not just a seasonal thing but a daily thing because God has been so faithful, gracious, kind, looked after us like a mother will nuture her seed, been so mindful of us.
Daniel was giving a testimony of how God delivered Him, how God superseded the wish of the enemies and brought Him out even at the point the king thought God could not save Him. There are things God has done that we need to go back to God and consciously thank Him for them one after the other and before you know, your thanksgiving has already establish on your behalf your next peace to continue the journey.
